Color Your Palate, Week 6

asd
You're almost there! Only one more week and you will have completed the Color Your Palate program! But don't let that be the end of your efforts to incorporate a wide variety of fruits and vegetables into your daily diet. Make this a lifestyle change - part of your automatic daily behavior.

As we've learned throughout the Color Your Palate program, it is always best to eat local produce. We've been made aware of an additional challange that would be fun and benefiticial for anyone who chooses to participate!

The Eat Local Challenge

Wasatch Community Gardens is partnering with local community members and other organizations to bring awareness to our local food system. The Eat Local Challenge is a fun and exciting way to get you understanding where your food comes from. The Challenge is simple, eat as local as you can.

The standard Challenge is described as eating food that comes from within a 250 mile radius for one month, but if this isn't realistic for you try to come up with a challenge that will work for you. Choose a couple of food groups to get locally and stay true to them, eat as locally as possible for a week, be creative - but be sure it is challenging and educational for you and your family.

To help you and your family get ready for the Challenge that starts on September 10th, Wasatch Community Gardens will be co-hosting a number of events to help educate you on how to be successful at this year's Challenge. Among them are the following:

You’ll be hard pressed to find a better tomato sandwich party in the city! We will also have live music and fun kids’ activities, and we will be hosting our first ever Fall Plant Sale. We will also have representatives at the garden from the Eat Local Challenge, talking with folks about the challenge and how to eat more local food. So, bring the family and join us for a celebration of the harvest and our community!
